Fairgrounds
It's where we take a thrill ride. It's where we watch an outdoor concert. It's where cotton candy sticks to our fingers. And it's where we don't seem to mind. So let's go to the carnivals, the county fairs and even the swap meets. Because packing in as much fun as we can possibly have at the fairgrounds is Pure Michigan.
Michigan State Fair, Detroit
The Michigan State Fair in Detroit is the site of the oldest such event in the U.S. - since 1849. Michigan salutes its agricultural heritage with farm stock and dairy exhibits, baby animals, horse shows, and arts and crafts. It’s a fun family event featuring competitions to enter, Midway rides, carnival games, big name and homegrown entertainment and once-a-year food treats like cotton candy, corn dogs and elephant ears.

Upper Peninsula State Fair, Escanaba, August 11-18
Michigan is the only State to have two State Fairs. The UP State Fair celebrates agriculture and a good old family friendly time. Through out the week the fair hosts musical concerts, carnival rides, midways games, food and thousands of exhibits and livestock.
