Tour the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum!
The Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum—the burial site of Gerald Ford, the 38th President of the United States, and his wife Betty Ford—has long been recognized as America’s most entertaining presidential museum. Now it’s even more engaging—as the museum underwent a complete down-to-the-studs makeover that makes it even more interactive and visitor-friendly.
The eight-month, multimillion-dollar renovation, which was completed in 2016, features state-of-the-art technology-based exhibits, including a thrilling multimedia simulation of the 1944 typhoon that nearly swept Ford off the deck of the aircraft carrier USS Monterey.
Never-before-seen artifacts, short films and interactive kiosks provide a deeper view of Ford’s life, from his early years in Grand Rapids to the 895 days he served as the most powerful man on the planet. A replica of the White House Oval Office, which was already a popular attraction, now offers visitors the chance to stand behind the President’s desk.
The museum also examines the life of First Lady Betty Ford, following her journey from dancer to housewife to outspoken and politically active presidential wife. The museum also features a two-story, 8,000-square-foot addition, The DeVos Learning Center, which is used for school field trips, company meetings and workshops. Even if you’ve visited the museum before, you’re in for a brand-new experience. And this is a great time to experience all the great amenities and attractions this trend-setting city.
