Jason Hall Rolls On as Honorary Starter of Pure Michigan 400
BROOKLYN, Mich. (Aug. 25, 2016) – Slow Roll comes to the fastest track in NASCAR this Sunday, August 28 when honorary starter Jason Hall waves the green flag at the Pure Michigan 400 at Michigan International Speedway.
Hall, of Detroit, is the co-founder of Slow Roll Detroit – possibly one of the largest weekly bicycle rides in the world. He is a true ambassador to the City of Detroit having won such awards as The Best of Michigan Business Award as a marketing savant, The Vanguard Award from Detroit Young Professionals, The 2014 D Show Ambassador Award from Adcraft and most recently the Sierra Club's Green Cruiser of the year.
In addition to waving the green flag at Michigan International Speedway on Sunday, Hall will attend the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series drivers’ meeting and pre-race ceremonies and driver introductions.
“Jason brings so much positive energy to everything he does, and I have no doubt the same will hold true as he kicks off this year’s Pure Michigan 400,” said Dave Lorenz, Vice President of Travel Michigan, part of the Michigan Economic Development Corporation. “Slow Roll is one of the inspiring and memorable stories coming out of Detroit today, and Jason is a terrific ambassador for the city and for all of Michigan.”
With thousands of riders each week, Slow Roll Detroit is a group bicycle ride that meets every Monday night in Detroit to take a unique route throughout the city, exploring major and minor neighborhoods of the city along the way. Now in its 6th Season, Slow Roll has expanded into a national network of community ride and is quickly becoming the largest weekly bike ride in the world.
"It's an honor to be invited by Pure Michigan to take part in the Pure Michigan 400,” Hall said. “It's rare that I get to go fast on Slow Roll so to be able to bring the two cultures together means a ton."
Hall has also seen Slow Roll gain the attention of many top companies, the most popular being Apple which picked Jason and Slow Roll as their ad campaign for the Apple IPad. When he's not organizing routes, meeting with the city police, appearing weekly on Local 4's Live in the D as a Professional or touring with Apple he spends the little spare time he has relaxing with his dog Lou and finding new restaurants.
Nestled in the lush Irish Hills of Southeastern Michigan, Michigan International Speedway is NASCAR’s fastest track and the Great Escape, a venerable NASCAR national park where fans can get away and enjoy the very best in racing and camaraderie. It’s the love of racing and the thrill of a great time for race fans and drivers alike for nearly 50 years.
