4 Mile Trail Camp
This open, sunny equestrian-friendly campground is sprinkled with young oaks and jack pines. This rustic campground consists of a spacious group-camping area and is often used by equestrians riding the Shore-to-Shore Trail. The Shore-to-Shore Trail is a 420-mile trail system open to hiking and horseback riding. The trail stretches east-west from Empire to Oscoda with two additional northern and southern spur trails.
The facility accommodates tents and trailers and includes vault toilets and potable water from a hand-pump well. There also is a submersible pump that requires a 5000-watt generator. Maximum capacity is 200 individuals (approximately 50 wheeled vehicles). Group rates apply at this site: $6 per person per night if camping with a horse or $15 per night for a group of 6 people. The campground is located 9.2 miles southeast of Grayling via M-72 East, I-75 South, and West 4 Mile Road. Sites available on a first-come, first-serve basis. No reservations.
This campground is maintained with the help of the Michigan Trail Riders Association.
