Amber Sands is situated in the heart of Leelanau County, 15 miles northwest of Traverse City, MI. Our resort has 500 feet of frontage and is situated on the eastern side of Lake Leelanau. Amber Sands has three acres of spacious, wooded grounds, with an open lawn to water's edge. Leelanau County has glorious sunsets and sunrises and our evening skies are dark for star gazers.
Amber Sands's season runs from mid-May through the end of October. The resort rents by the week June, July and August, from Saturday to Saturday.
We have six cottages that sleep from six to eight; each unit has at least two carpeted bedrooms. Our knotty pined cottages were recently renovated, and the bathrooms were ceramic tiled.
We provide color cable TV, picnic tables and grills and playground swings and sandbox for the children and a fish cleaning house for the fishermen. The resort provides a protected boat slip and walking docks.
Weather permitting we have nightly campfires.
Amber Sands is seven miles from the famed fishing village in Leland and a short drive to the spectacular Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore. Leelanau Sands Casino is a quick fifteen minute drive.
Leelanau County is home to numerous vineyards and wine tours are a popular activity for guests. Visit one of Leelanau's orchard's road side stands and sample Leelanau's home grown and fresh fruits and vegetables.
