The Original Dulcimer Players Club is a registered Michigan non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the Michigan history and music of the hammered dulcimer. The club was formed in 1963. We sponsor local gatherings for musicians to jam and exchange tunes. We also have an education and outreach program where we match new dulcimer players with mentors.
On the third weekend in July, people from all across the nation gather in Evart for the ODPC FunFest. The Evart FunFest features the hammered dulcimer but all acoustic instruments are welcome and encouraged to join in.
This is a nice family-friendly traditional acoustic music festival. Almost all activities take place outdoors or in open-air pavilions, so lots of fresh air. There are workshops for all types of acoustic instruments, and all levels of ability. There is open jamming, and evening concerts. Camping at the Osceola Country Fairgrounds, with both primitive sites as well as sites with water and electric.
